Valarie Rose Poole's Obituary
Valarie Rose Poole, age 44, of Fort Myers, Florida passed away suddenly on Sunday, May 18, 2014 with her loving mother at her side. She was born July 15, 1969 in Cohoes, New York, the beautiful daughter of Anne (Fecko) and Charles Francis Poole. She moved with her family to Lake Worth, Florida in 1973 where she attended school and was a proud graduate of Santaluces High School in Lantana, Florida. She was a parishioner at Holy Apostles Byzantine Catholic Church in Lake Worth where she practiced her faith with great devotion and faith in the Lord. She was a fan of everything to do with sports, but especially enjoyed watching baseball and playing golf and bowling. Valarie was a true animal lover with her favorite being horses. She was an avid horseback rider at Vinceremos Riding Center and, when not in the saddle herself, she could often be found watching thoroughbred racing. Valarie was an inspiration to others and “she collected people” along her life’s journey. She participated in bowling and golfing events at Special Olympics and was proud to demonstrate that physical limitation is not a barrier to achievement. She moved to Fort Myers in 2004.She leaves to cherish her loving memory, her mother Anne Poole; her brothers Andrew (Debi), Eddie (Heather) and David Poole; her sisters Veronica Hansen (John) and Missy Shapp; her nephews Stephen Shapp, Richard Shapp and Nathan Poole; her niece Brianna Poole; her uncle Max Fecko (Dianne) and aunt RoseMary Link (Jeff). She also leaves behind many extended family and a number of friends, especially Kristen and Michelle, who will greatly miss her company. Sadly, she was preceded in death by both sets of grandparents, her father Charles and stepmother Mary Lou Poole. A Visitation will be conducted from 9:30-11:00 AM on Saturday, May 24, 2014 at All Saints Byzantine Catholic Church, 10291 Bayshore Road, North Fort Myers, Florida 33917. Immediately following, a Liturgy will be celebrated in the church sanctuary at 11:00 AM. Entombment will take place next Friday, May 30, 2014 at 10:30 AM at South Florida National Cemetery, 6501 State Road 7, Lake Worth, Florida 33449. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly asks that you instead consider a donation in Valarie’s memory to Special Olympics at 3410 Palm Beach Boulevard, Fort Myers, Florida 33916.Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Fort Myers Memorial Gardens Funeral Home and Cemetery, 1589 Colonial Boulevard, Fort Myers, Florida 33907, (239) 936-0555.
