Vassie Mae Crawford's Obituary
Our precious mother Vassie Mae Crawford, 82, of Fort Myers, Florida, passed away on 05/11/2022.
She was born to parents Vastie Kinney Ellerbe and Lonnie Ellerbe, on 09/02/1940 in Marlboro County, South Carolina.
She devoted her life to her children, and anyone elses who needed a place to stay or food to eat. She cared for everyone and never wanted to be the center of attention or asked for a thank you or that anyone keep in touch. She loved her home to look beautiful, and always kept a clean place. She was known to sew clothing for her children and always made sure they were well kept. Marvelous cook, and always baking by scratch, she’ll be missed for her spectacular dinners on special occasions and holidays, including the preparing and shopping to make sure she have as many favorites she could possibly cook or bake.
Vassie Mae was kind, small and mighty and not afraid to tell you how she feels. Fishing was her thing when she could go, she’d smile and talk about her upcoming fishing day. She loved hard and she’ll be missed tremendously.
Survived by two siblings, her sister Mary Johnson in South Carolina and her brother Bishop Ellerbe in Virginia. Her living children from the oldest to youngest, Jesse Crawford of Brooklyn, NY, Ricky Ford of Brooklyn, NY, Anna Guerrero of Manhattan, NY, Catherine Kitson in South Carolina, Faye Crawford in Brooklyn, NY, Kenneth Crawford in Bronx, NY, Ella Crawford in SW Florida and Carol Scott in SW Florida. She has 2 son in laws Leslie Kitson and Michael Scott, 18 grandchildren and 34 Great grandchildren. She also had a host of friends and neighbors whom she loved and who loved her just the same.
