Velma Bernice Johnson's Obituary
Velma B. Johnson, 82, of N. Ft. Myers, FL, died Monday, January 20, 2014 in Cape Coral, Fl. She was a retired assembler with Rexnord Manufacturing – Dolton, IL. Velma was an active member of many organizations through the years including the Daughters of the Nile and the Ladies Oriental Shrine. She was also a “Hillbilly Mama”, a “Jeepster” Lady, a “Jesterette” and a “Dragon Lady”. She was born July 11, 1931 in Rochester, IL to the late Henry Hardy Catron and Jesse Faye Horn Catron. Velma is survived by her husband of 61 years, George G. Johnson; children, Jon (Katie) Johnson of Hillsboro, OR; Rhonda Catterson of Brazil, IN; Robin (Bruce) Manestar of St. John, IN; George H. (Connie) Johnson of Surgoinsville, TN and Tim Johnson of Church Hill, TN. Velma is also survived by 3 brothers, 2 sisters, 9 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren. Celebration of Life will be 6pm Sunday, January 26, 2014 at the Araba Shrine 2010 Hanson Street, Fort Myers, FL 33901.
