Verdon "Cotton" A. Ellis' Obituary
Verdon "Cotton" A. Ellis, 91, of Fort Myers, passed away Tuesday, October 23, 2023 following an extended illness. He was born December 23, 1931 in Armathwaite, Tennessee to William Marion and Leona Bell (Peters) Ellis. He moved to Florida in 1949. Following his honorable discharge from the United States Army during the Korean War, he worked for the United States Postal Service as a clerk and retired in 1996 after 30 years of service. He was a member of Tropical Lodge #56, F & A.M. where he was a 33rd Degree Mason, Araba Shrine Temple and was a member of First Baptist Church of Fort Myers.
Mr. Ellis is survived by his wife of 71 years, Helen Faye Ellis; his children, Karen Codding (James) and Keith Ellis, all of Fort Myers; his grandchildren: James "Mike", Jr. Codding and Jason Codding, his great grandson, Charles Codding and his brother, Ray Ellis (Carole) of Tennessee. He was preceded in death by his son, Bruce Ellis in 2018 and his grandson, Andrew Ellis in 1995.
