Veronica Anne Forsyth's Obituary
Veronica Anne Forsyth, 75, a native of Watertown, Massachusetts, and longtime resident of Cape Coral, Florida, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, April 22, 2025.
Family and friends are invited to a celebration of life in her honor on Saturday, May 31, at Fort Myers Memorial Gardens Funeral Home from noon to 2 p.m.
Roni is survived by her husband of 50 years, Frank Forsyth; her children, Michael and Anne Forsyth; and her brothers, Jack and Colin MacKenzie. She was preceded in passing by her parents, John and Vera MacKenzie.
Roni was a loving wife, mother, sister, and friend. She never met a stranger she didn’t quickly befriend thanks to her friendly, welcoming, and outgoing personality. She loved spending time with Frank, her two kids, family, and friends, especially while enjoying a glass of pinot grigio—with ice, of course—on a patio during happy hour as they shared stories and laughs.
Roni took pride in her long career at Florida Gulf Coast University. During her time there, she supported three presidents, helped guide students, and made some of her closest friends to this day. Students and employees alike knew her across the campus as she zipped around in the president’s golf “caht.”
She always looked forward to planning her next trip and loved her travels over the years, including cruising around Alaska and the Caribbean, setting off on numerous trips to Cape Cod and Seattle, and gallivanting all over Europe back in the day with Mary Lou, her best friend since ninth grade. Shopping for vacation outfits was half of the fun for her, and she always arrived in style.
Roni’s favorite time of year was Christmas, when she’d elaborately decorate with her countless ornaments, spend months searching for the perfect gifts, try out new cookie recipes, and rewatch Christmas Vacation, Home Alone, and Die Hard (yes, she strongly believed it’s a Christmas movie). Most of all, she loved celebrating with family, including her great-nieces and great-nephew, who she liked to spoil as if they were her own grandkids.
She was kind, strong, selfless, funny, smart, and tenacious—but most memorably, she had a huge heart and sought out every opportunity to share it with those she loved.
Roni will be missed deeply by all who knew and loved her. In lieu of flowers, please send donations in her honor to the Harry Chapin Food Bank of Southwest Florida.
