Viola "Dot" Hodson's Obituary
Viola M. “Dot” Hodson of Fort Myers, FL passed away Friday, August 29, 29014 after a brief illness at Gulf Coast Medical Center. She was 94 years of age. Viola was born April 6, 1920 in Borton, IL to the late Glen Naphew and Eva Belle Blood Naphew. She grew up and lived in Indiana before getting married and moving to Southwest Florida in the late 1940s. She was an active spirit who enjoyed working in her yard and remaining active. She was a long-time member of Parkway Baptist Church of Fort Myers and worked many years as a cashier-office administrator at Carlos Bay Foodway grocery store on Fort Myers Beach. She is preceded in death by her husband Byron Wayne”Buck” Hodson who died in 1983, her brother, John E. Naphew and three sisters, Irma R. Hankins, Laura Maude Naphew and Louise May Naphew.Those left behind to cherish her memory include her daughter, Terri (David) Bell of Fort Myers; sister, Evelyn June (Jesse) Horner; grandchildren, Darryl (Joyce) Bell, Tony Bell, Maryann (Craig) Wise and Janna (Patrick) Murray along with numerous great grandchildren and several great-great grandchildren. A Memorial Service will be held 7pm Monday, September 8, 2014 at Parkway Baptist Church 6211 Briarcliff Rd Fort Myers, FL. Immediately follow the service, the family will receive friends in the Fellowship Hall at the church. Fort Myers Memorial Gardens Funeral Home is serving the family.
