Virgilene S. Fischer's Obituary
Virgilene S. Fischer, 92, a resident of Fort Myers, FL since 1955, formerly of Wytheville, VA passed away Tuesday, March 1, 2022 in Rome, GA. She was born November 25, 1929 in Wytheville, VA to the late Virgil and Charlotte (Dill) Sharitz.
Virgilene was a longtime member of McGregor Baptist Church, Fort Myers, FL. She enjoyed sewing, crocheting and reading her Bible daily. Virgilene was the manager of her husband’s contracting business for many years until his retirement. She then worked until she was 86 years old as a receptionist for a small law firm but considered her greatest title to be Mother. Virgilene was preceded in death by her husband, Michael Breedlove Fischer, Sr; two sons, David Llewellyn and Allan Robert; as well as her two sisters.
She is survived by her two loving children, Michael B. Fischer, Jr. (Lily) of Fort Myers, FL and Charlotte Atwood (Jim) of Rome, GA; three grandchildren, Melody, David and Paul; as well as two adored great grandchildren, Aaron and Judah, one great great grandchild Caleb and many nieces and nephews.
A visitation will be held from 1:00 – 1:30 PM, Friday, March 18, 2022 at Fort Myers Memorial Gardens Funeral Home, 1589 Colonial Blvd., Fort Myers, FL 33907. A Funeral Service will be held at 1:30 PM, Friday, March 18, 2022 at the funeral home. Interment will follow at Memorial Gardens Cemetery, Fort Myers, FL.
