Virginia S. Harrison's Obituary
Virginia S. Harrison, 91, a lifelong Florida resident passed away surrounded by her loving family Wednesday, February 15, 2023 under the care of Hope Hospice. She was born October 28, 1931 in Cairo, GA to the late Earnest and Pauline (nee Hawthorne) Stokes.
Virginia was a very Proud Mom of her 6 children. We would all hear stories of how Mom would dress us in our Sunday “best”, after Church we would go out and people would always ask are all those kids yours? Mom would proudly respond with her big, beautiful smile yes, they are! Mom loved to cook and when I say loved to cook anyone that has been to her house knows if there were going to be 10 people coming over there would be enough food for 20 people. Mom’s motto “no one will ever go away hungry”. Mom was also very proud of her Grandchildren, Great Grandchildren and Great Great Grandchildren. Mom always looked forward to travel, both Mom and Dad took many trips together visiting the kids and grandkids. There is not enough space to write all the wonderful memories us kids have about Mom and what she meant to our family. The main thing we can all say without hesitation Mom loved God and made sure each of us were brought up with the love of God in our hearts and knew the meaning of right and wrong. Mom passed listening to some of her favorite Hymns as God reached out and called her home for eternal rest and peace. She was preceded in death by her husband, Aubry, sister, Hazel, son, Jerry, grandson Kenny, granddaughter Kimberly and grandson, Jamey.
Virginia is survived by her six children, Margie Wicks (LaVerne) of Fort Myers, FL, Sandra Hicks (Larry) of Bedford, VA, Karen Riggs of Fort Myers, FL Linda Bonhoff (Barney) of Punta Gorda, FL, Aubry Harrison Jr. of Punta Gorda, FL and Terry Harrison of Mocksville, NC; one brother, Edwin Stokes of Inverness, FL; twelve grandchildren; 24 great grandchildren; as well as five great great grandchildren.
A visitation will be held from 11:30 AM – 12:00 NOON, Saturday, February 25, 2023 at Fort Myers Memorial Gardens Funeral Home, 1589 Colonial Blvd., Fort Myers, FL. A Funeral Service will follow at NOON on Saturday at the funeral home. Burial will be held privately.
