Virginia A Makris' Obituary
Virginia “Ginger” A. Makris (nee Arcuri), 83, peacefully passed away September 14th 2022 in her home in Fort Myers with family present. Virginia was born in Brooklyn, New York January 6th 1939 to Vincenzo Arcuri & Augustina “Agnes” Di Pasquale. Virginia was an actress, model, interior designer, creative, world traveler and lover of life’s finest things. However, her greatest love in life was being a mother, grandmother and great-grandmother to her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren she loved so deeply.
Virginia was preceded in death by her parents, her brother Peter, her sister Florence, her husbands Joseph Serpico senior and Constantine Makris, as well as her grandsons William and Joseph “Joey” Serpico. She is survived by sister Annette & her children Joseph Serpico, Anthony Serpico, Vincent Serpico, and Heather Serpico. Her surviving grandchildren are Ariana Pisacani, Giuliana Busacco, Christian Busacco, Luciano Kanakis, Elise Serpico, Olivia Serpico, Julia Serpico and Victoria Serpico. Her surviving great-grandchildren are Layla Schirripa, Lily Pisacani, Jason Pisacani and Gabriella Serpico.
Virginia loved good food, wine, fashion, shopping, reading, traveling and spending time with her friends and family. Virginia was fiercely proud of her Italian American heritage and was a member of the Dante Alighieri Society of Miami. She was also very patriotic, and was a long-time member of the Navy League of the United States. She was Roman Catholic and deeply devoted to her faith. She was a church member at Saint Cecilia’s Catholic Church in Fort Myers. For decades before that she was a devoted member of Our Lady of the Lakes Catholic Church in Miami Lakes and was very involved in their Women’s Emmaus group.
