Virginia M. Quinn's Obituary
Virginia “Ginny” Mae (Frey) Quinn, 81 of Fort Myers passed away Friday January 25, 2019 surrounded by her loving family after a long, hard-fought battle with pancreatic cancer that she handled with grace.She was born in E. Providence, RI and after a difficult childhood, was able to put herself through Rhode Island School of Nursing, graduating in 1958 and maintaining her Registered Nurse license for over 50 years. She and her Naval Officer were married for 53 years. She enjoyed travelling both where the Navy took the family as well as personally throughout the US and abroad. Her favorite destination was Ireland.She was a selfless and devoted mother to her three children and volunteered through many areas of their varied interests as Cub Scout den leader, school nurse, swim mom, cheerleading mom and class mom. She did it all!She was very involved with the Fort Myers chapter of the Women of the Moose Lodge and earned her Academy of Friendship Degree. She held multiple offices and worked her way up to Senior Regent; she qualified for the College of Regents and obtained her Red Stole guiding those following her to reach their potential to help both the Moose and the community.She loved to keep her mind sharp with Crosswords and Suduko and general trivia.She was unbelievably kind and caring to everyone she met.She was preceded in death by her father John Llewellyn Frey, birth mother Barbara Velna (Ordway) Frey, stepmother Muriel (Rooney) Frey, and sisters Barbara Lake and Flora Frey. She is survived by her husband Thomas Patrick Quinn Sr.; children Thomas Jr. (Lynn) Quinn, Kathleen (Mark) Hoover and Kristi Quinn; grandchildren Ryan Hoover, Ashlie Hoover, Kevin Hoover, Dakota Quinn, Hunter Quinn, Shadow Quinn; siblings John Frey Jr., Lois Smith, Edward Frey, Stephen Frey, Teresa Curria, William Frey, Susan Cabral, Michael Frey, Gerald Frey, Jean McCall and Patricia Doran; and numerous cousins, nieces and nephews.Visitation will be Friday 2/1 from 6pm-8pm at Fort Myers Memorial Gardens 1589 Colonial Blvd, Fort Myers, FL 33907 (239) 243-0014.Mass of Christian Burial will be Saturday 2/2 at 10am at Church of the Resurrection 8121 Cypress Lake Dr, Fort Myers, FL 33919 followed by a procession to the gravesite at Fort Myers Memorial Gardens.
