Virginia K. Rula's Obituary
Virginia K. Rula of Fort Myers, Florida passed away peacefully on Thursday, December 7, 2017 following some chronic health challenges. She was 77 years old. Virginia was born on January 26, 1940 in Kohala, Hawaii, the beautiful daughter of Violet (Costa) and David Kauwe. She is survived by her soulmate and life partner Larry Goodwin II. They were together for ten years. Mother of fourteen children; survived, loved and missed by ten. Tanya Kauwe, Dennis Cahill, Chuck Kauwe, Mark Caulk, Debra Caulk, Mathew Caulk, Christopher Caulk, Lance Caulk, Jeanette Mills, Daneen Rula and part time (hanai) mother to many. She left behind a legacy of twenty-seven grandchildren, twenty-nine great grandchildren and three great great grandchildren. Oldest of seven children, brothers Fred Kauwe, David Kauwe and Nyck Kauwe; sisters Midge Nasiatka, Sharon Kauwe and Mabel Kauwe. Survived only by sister Midge. Always had an open door and heart to friends and family alike. She loved bowling, swap meets, dancing, bingo, riding horses and the ocean. She was smart, creative, stubborn, loving and beautiful. When it came to life she loved life and living on the edge. She lit up the room where ever she went and was usually the center of attention. A very unique mom, the mold was broken when she was born. Lived her final days here in Ft. Myers, Florida with husband Larry Goodwin II and daughter Tanya Kauwe. Loved by everyone that came to know her, her passing will be deeply felt. She has fulfilled her purpose here on earth and has now been called home to join her son Glenn Caulk and daughters Yvette Caulk and Monique Rula who preceded her to heaven.A Memorial Service for Virginia will be celebrated at 3:00 PM on Saturday, September 15, 2018 at the Cove located at the Piliaau Army Recreation Center, 4070 85-010 Army Street, Waianae, HI 96792, (808) 696-4158.
