Virginia Francis Wilkins' Obituary
Virginia Francis Wilkins, age 76, passed away peacefully at her residence in North Fort Myers, FL, surrounded by her loving family, on Saturday, March 29, 2025. Virginia had been a cherished resident of North Fort Myers since 1980, having previously lived in Magnolia, NJ.
Born on April 25, 1948, in Philadelphia, PA, Virginia was the beloved daughter of the late Raymond and Anna (Brannigan) Harding. She graduated from Sterling High School in Stafford, NJ, as part of the Class of 1966.
Virginia was an exceptionally talented seamstress, known for her ability to create beautiful clothing for herself and her family. She also had a deep passion for ceramics and found great joy in the art of shopping. Her creativity, warmth, and dedication to her loved ones enriched the lives of all who knew her. She was preceded in death by her parents, Raymond and Anna Harding; her husband, Gerald Wilkins and sister, Elizabeth Ann McGay and brother-in-law, Charles McGay.
Virginia is survived by her two loving children, Marlo Castillo and her husband, Tony of North Fort Myers, FL and Warren Mercer and his wife, Michelle of Cape Coral, FL; five grandchildren, Amanda, Brittany, Anthony, Dylan and Dominic; four nieces and nephews, Kelly McGay, Tina Dougherty (Steve), Chuck McGay (Nancy) and Beth Crumpton (Casey); as well as many extended family members and friends.
A visitation will be held from 1:00 PM – 2:00 PM, Thursday, April 3, 2025 at Fort Myers Memorial Gardens Funeral Home, 1589 Colonial Blvd., Fort Myers, FL. A Funeral Service will be celebrated 2:00 PM, Thursday, April 3, 2025 at the funeral home. Following the services Virginia will be laid to rest next to her husband in the Green Lea Estates section of Memorial gardens Cemetery.
Virginia will be remembered fondly by her family, friends, and community for her loving heart and vibrant spirit. She will be deeply missed.
