W. Darrell Coleman's Obituary
W. Darrell Coleman's dream and goal of walking on the streets of gold has now been realized as he is now basking in the presence of his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Darrell, 82 years old, passed away Saturday, August 26, 2023. He was born to Rev. Ervin Coleman and Tonetta Ruby Miller Coleman on September 18, 1940 in McCaisville, Georgia.
His parents were in the ministry as pastors/evangelists and he lived in many states while growing up as his parents traveled in their ministry. He eventually settled in Fort Myers in 1960 where he met the love of his life, Frances Pigott. They were married 58 years. He is survived by his wife Frances; son Carlin Darrell Coleman; daughter Alena Cher Coleman; grandchildren John Nathan Nipper III, Brianna Nipper, Brenna Nipper Kaulbars (Jeff), Logan and Cullen Coleman; great granddaughters Kaylee and Lexi Nipper; siblings Viola Ponder and Charles Coleman; brothers-in-law Ralph Pigott (Valerie) and Harvey Pigott (Pamela).
Darrell served in the U. S. Army (1963-1966) being trained in electronics in the repair of field radios. He was in sales and insurance marketing for most of his life. He had a great talent i.n music. His hobbies were playing guitar, writing and singing gospel music. He composed 22 gospel songs. Darrell had a great love for God and wanted everyone he knew and met to experience knowing and loving God as he did and to be ready to meet their Savior. He attended the Alva Church of God where he played guitar and sang for the glory of God.
There will be a Graveside Service for family and friends at Fort Myers Memorial Gardens 1589 Colonial Blvd on Saturday September 9, 2023 at 10:30AM.
