Walter Edward Danielewski's Obituary
Walter E. Danielewski, 90, of Fort Myers, Florida, formerly of New Canaan, Connecticut and Maggie Valley, North Carolina, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, April 2, 2024, at The Preserve in Fort Myers, Florida.
He was born May 10, 1933, in Brooklyn, New York to the late Anthony and Mary (Buczkowski) Danielewski. Walter was predeceased by his wife of nearly 69 years, Clare P. Danielewski, and is survived by their five children: Walter Danielewski, Jr. (Darlene) of Fort Myers, Florida, Diana Tarczali (Peter) of Tampa, Florida, Debra Ramirez (Enriqué) of Canton, North Carolina, William Danielewski of Lisbon, New Hampshire, and Donna Danielewski (Mathew Thomsen) of Medway, Massachusetts ; 15 grandchildren, Walter Edward III (Julie), Michael Anthony, Danielle Felicia, Theodoor Willem, Timothy Adam, Maxwell Edward, Jennifer Gail, Hannah Maria, Brittany Leigh, Taylor William, Brooke Anne, Trevor Michael, Clare Helen, David Anton, and Logan Edward; as well as great grandson, Walter Edward Danielewski, IV. Walter was preceded in death by his infant children, Michael Anthony and daughter Dawn, and brothers, Anthony and Robert Danielewski
A U.S. Navy veteran, Walter served on the aircraft carrier, the U.S.S. Lake Champlain, during the Korean War. Upon discharge from the Navy, Walter went to work for United Parcel Service (UPS), where he excelled for 27 years—from an entry-level position through Finance, to Treasurer, and finally Chief Financial Officer before retiring. Walter held many different roles throughout his life, but treasured most those of husband and father, grandfather and great-grandfather.
Services will be private, and arrangements have been entrusted to Fort Myers Memorial Gardens Funeral Home, 1589 Colonial Blvd., Fort Myers, FL 33907. (239) 936-0555. A local Celebration of Life will be held later in the summer.
