Walter Falck's Obituary
Walter F. Falck Jr., 84, of Fort Myers, FL passed away May 7, 2009. Walter was born on January 16, 1925 in Newark, NJ, to Walter (Sr.) and Hulda Falck. After graduating from high school, he served his country as a Flight Engineer in the Army Air Corps during WWII. He was attached to the 459th Bomb Group in the 15th Air Force. His B-24 was severely damaged by flak and he and his crew were forced to bail out over Hungary. He was captured by the Germans and was a POW for 5 1/2 months. After being liberated, Walter left the service with 4 Bronze Stars, the Purple Heart, Air Medal w/ Oak Leaf Cluster and a POW Medal.Walter then attended Upsala College and later received his Bachelors Degree in Elementary Education from Trenton State Teachers College. He taught 4th Grade for 25 years, in Bayville and Jackson Township, NJ. After retiring, he and his wife moved to Fort Myers. Walter was a member of the VFW, American Legion, and the local Ex-POW group.Walter is survived by his loving wife of 61 years, Bertha Falck; sons Gary (Tammy) Falck, Steven (Deborah) Falck, Walter (Brenda) Falck, and John (Lori) Falck; grandchildren Jennifer Falck, Kristina (Jimmy) Demonstranti, and Caroline (Gus) Falck; great grandchildren Olivia, Steven and Sophie; and his beloved dog, Daisy.Visitation hours are 2-5 PM Sunday, May 10, and funeral service is at 10:00 am Monday, May 11, at Fort Myers Memorial Gardens.In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to the Pulmonary Fibrosis Foundation at:(www.pulmonaryfibrosis.org) or the Wounded Warrior Project at:(www.woundedwarriorproject.org).
