Walter Evan Lewis' Obituary
Walter “Wally” Lewis was a devoted husband, father, “Papa,” and friend when he passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday morning, October 6, 2021, at age 87.
He was born to Ansel and Mary Lewis on March 14, 1934 and had three brothers, Paul, Don, Bob, and one sister, Mary Ellen. After graduating from Holland Central School in NY, class of ’52, Wally served 2 years in the US Army. He then worked for a local builder, before becoming part-owner of Thruway Builders in Orchard Park, NY. On June 20, 1959, he married the love of his life, Gail, and they loved each other deeply for the next 62 years. Together, they had 3 boys, Mike (Amy), Tom (Amy), and Robb; 6 grandchildren, Todd (Kim), Kate (Brett), Alex (Josh), Terik, Joshua, and Cheney; and 6 great-grandchildren, Aimee, George, Talon, Charlie, Kinsley, and Averie. He leaves with a legacy of faith, family, and fun.
Wally loved and served God faithfully. He was an avid golfer, tennis player, and Buffalo Bills fan. He had great enthusiasm, dignity, and gratitude in life. He was a family man and a gentleman, through and through. He was known as kind, generous, and gracious by all who knew him.
A celebration of his life will be held at 10 am on Wednesday, October 13, 2021 at Faith United Methodist Church, 15690 McGregor Blvd, Fort Myers, FL 33908.
