Wayne Thomas Wiles' Obituary
Wayne Thomas Wiles, 82, a longtime Fort Myers, FL resident, formerly of Minnesota passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on Thursday, December 23, 2021 under the care of Hope Hospice. He was born October 30, 1939 in Belgrade, MN to the late, George and Hilda (nee Jensen) Wiles.
Wayne was a well-respected man in the floor covering industry and established Wayne Wiles Floor Covering in 1985. He served on the Board of the World Floor Covering Association for many years. Wayne and his wife were involved in SWFL Children’s Charities which helped build Galisano’s Children’s Hospital and had served as trustees for 5 years. Wayne was an avid University of Florida Gator fan and was a Bull Gator for the past 23 years. He served on the Gator Boosters Board of Directors for 20 years, was the past president and was a distinguished director with the Gator Boosters in 2010.
He is survived by his loving wife of 35 years, Maria Wiles of Fort Myers, FL; six children, Mark Wiles (Bonnie) of Fort Myers, FL, Steve Wiles (Stephanie) of Fort Myers, FL, John Wiles (Diane) of Cape Coral, FL, Lanie Welch Gooch of Tampa, FL, Robert Welch of West Palm Beach, FL and Bryan Welch of Fort Myers, FL; one sister, Diane Hendry (Roy) of Fort Myers, FL; ten grandchildren, Andrew, Taylor, Madeline, Weston, Lucas, Jacob, Caleb, Savannah, TJ and Sarah; one adored great grandson, Hayden; as well as many dear colleagues and friends.
A visitation will be held from 6:00 – 8:00 PM, Tuesday, December 28, 2021 at Fort Myers Memorial Gardens Funeral Home, 1589 Colonial Blvd., Fort Myers, FL. A Funeral Service will be celebrated 1:30 PM, Wednesday, December 29, 2021 at St. Michael Lutheran Church, 3595 Broadway, Fort Myers, FL 33901. Entombment will follow at Memorial Gardens Cemetery, Fort Myers, FL.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Hope Hospice, 9470 Healthpark Circle, Fort Myers, FL 33908 or to St. Michael Lutheran Church, Fort Myers, FL in loving memory of Wayne Thomas Wiles.
