William (Ab) F. Pooser William (Ab) F. Pooser was born in on Jan. 21, 1913 in Oneonta, NY and went to be with his Lord and Savior on May 18, 2011.?áAb was preceded in death by his wife, Nannie Lee Pooser, which he is joining with her in Heaven.?áSurviving by his son Frankie (Patricia) Pooser and he had three grandchildren, Dawn (Eric) Mason, Wayne (Amy) Pooser and Janice (Wesley) Monroe.?áHe had eleven Great Grandchildren; Debra, Brittany, John and Cody Mason, Austin, Brandon and David Pooser, Chris, Mallory, Sara and Jewel Monroe. He was a very quiet and unassuming pressman, but a man who would take pride in his work and loved doing it, but would used his common sense that God gave him to solve problems as they would come up.?áHe would say that his work is his hobby.?áAb started in the newspaper business as a carrier around 1925, delivering the Ocala Evening Star.?áIn 1932 he went to work for the rival paper across the street, the Morning Banner, as a stereotyper. He joined the Army in January of 1941 and served with distinction as a medic all through the Pacific campaign.?áHe was decorated several times.?áFollowing his honorable discharge in December of 1945, Ab returned to his former vocation. In 1953 Ab got a job at Fort Myers News-Press and moved to Fort Myers as a pressman.?áHe went thru different presses from a cold type all the way up to the off set press of today.?áAb was never one to turn down a challenge if a problem came up on a press.?áHe would figure it out before anyone else would.?áAb possesses a rare mechanical ability.?áHe would work with electricity, plumbing and press operations with equal ease.?áAb has successfully supervised the rebuilding of a damaged press folder without interfering with printing deadlines.?áThey would say, ?Ç£Ab is the man to see when anything needs fixing.?Ç¥?áWhile working with the News-Press he received several awards.?áHis boss kept trying to get him to move up to management, but he would turn them down and stayed at what work that they had given him to do. The family will receive friends on Saturday from 10:00 to 11:00 AM at Fort Myers Memorial Gardens and burial will be at 11:00AM.
