William Alexander Aquart's Obituary
William Alexander Aquart, 89, of Fort Myers, passed away Monday, November 16, 2020. He was born April 25, 1931 to Vida Wedderburn and John Joseph Aquart in Kingston, Jamaica, West Indies. William received his early childhood and high school education in St. Thomas, Jamaica. William arrived to the United States at age 19. He became a proud citizen on February 14, 1961. Shortly afterwards, William fell in love with and married his beloved Clementine on June 17, 1978. Bill was a dedicated and admired employee and received the loyalty award for his service at Warner Universal Corporation. He also served as President for United Steel Workers Union for 30 years. After working for the Newark Board of Education Security Services. William retired and relocated to Fort Myers, Florida in 1997.
William was devoted to his faith in Christ and was a member of Phillips Metropolitan C.M.E. Church and a faithful member of Cypress Lake United Methodist Church. Serving as greeter and singing in the Chancel Choir brought him great joy.
Bill leaves to cherish his memory, his wife, Clementine Aquart; his children: William A. Aquart, Jr., Bryant Aquart, Sherri Aquart, Tina Spear, Anta Waller, Pearlie (Harvey) Greene, Priscilla (Dennis) Carroll, Lisa (Vincent) Weathers, Linda Denise Brown, Cousia Watson and James A. Brown. Also surviving are a host of loving grandchildren and great grandchildren and sisters-in-law: Avis McCleod and a host of loving family and friends. William is preceded in death by his sister, Carol Dyer.
Funeral services will be conducted at 1:00 PM Monday, November 23, 2020 at Cypress Lake United Methodist Church, 8570 Cypress Lake Drive, Fort Myers, FL 33919. Friends will be received from 12:00 PM until the time of the service.
