William A. Coughlin, III's Obituary
William Ambrose Coughlin III passed away on April 24, 2018 at Shell Point Hospice in Fort Myers, Florida where he had been since Sunday, April 15.William was a friend to all he met. A kind, sociable Irishman who enjoyed telling stories, listening to his friends and constantly in search of the Best Day of The Year (BDOY). He lived life to the fullest and left us all without regret.William was the first born son of William A. Coughlin Jr. (1922-2001) and Marilyn Loraine (Nanry) Coughlin (1927-2017). He is survived by his siblings Kathleen, Daniel and Chuck and his three children and their spouses; Courtney Smith (Dustin), Collin (Kristen) Coughlin, Elizabeth (Shane) Bruner and their son Max (2). William loved his time with Max and was thrilled with the birth of his first grandson. William was proud of all his children’s lives and accomplishments.William was born in Ann Arbor, Michigan and was a devoted Catholic. He attended St. Francis grade school where he was baptized and received the sacraments of the Church. Later in life, he became a lector during mass and was proud to serve the local Parishes in the communities he lived.After graduating from Huron High School, William attended and graduated from Indiana University in 1975. It was at Indiana he married Ann Denise Johnson (1976) the mother to their three children.William began his career in human relations for Hoover Ball and Bearing and continued there through many years after their purchase by Johnson Controls. He later worked for and retired from Stanley Automotive in Columbus, Ohio.While in Columbus, he made a great group of friends at his golf club Hickory Hills. He participated in many tournaments and enjoyed the company of a great many members. After retirement, he moved to Fort Myers, Florida to be near his sister Kathleen. It was here he found love and happiness with his faithful companion Patti Johnston, who helped him immensely in the later stages. The family is indebted to Patti and our Aunt Kathleen for their care of William.While his life was cut short, he will be remembered for his smile, his humor, his love of life, and his desire to live every day to its greatest end.
