William Russell Glatz's Obituary
William Russell Glatz, 85, a 20-year resident of Estero, FL, formerly of Rockville, MD passed away unexpectedly Thursday, November 12, 2020 at his residence. He was born April 8, 1935 in Wilkes-Barre, PA to the late Russell and Marian Glatz. Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Ronald Glatz.
William spent 38 years working for the U. S. Government. Serving first as a proud member of the United States Air Force. Most of his government service was with the Central Intelligence Agency as a Program Manager. Upon retirement at 65, he enjoyed playing tennis and bridge with his community friends, attending First Presbyterian Church of Bonita Springs, and weekly delivering Meals on Wheels. Bill especially loved traveling north to multiple Penn State Football games every season and visiting friends from Chevy Chase Presbyterian Church.
William is survived by his loving wife of 60 years, Margaret “Peggy” Glatz of Estero, FL; two sons, Jeffrey Glatz (Joni German) of Chico, CA and William “Bill” Glatz (Suzanne) of Reston, VA; one brother, Jack Glatz of University Place, WA; three adored grandchildren, Julia, Brooke and Michael; as well as many extended family members and friends.
Services will be held in Columbia, SC in early December.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the First Presbyterian Church of Bonita Springs, 9751 Bonita Beach Road SE, Bonita Springs, FL 34135 or to Meals on Wheels of Lee County, 3429 Dr. Martin Luther King Jr Blvd., Fort Myers, FL 33916 in loving memory of William R. Glatz.
