Barb and I became next door neighbors of Bill and Judy five years ago. Bill became an instant friend who was always interested in a good discussion or small chat. We shared old Navy stories although he had 30 more years in service than my 3.
Bill really liked finding and sharing recovered golf balls lost in the pond on front of a par 3 hole behind their home. He also readily shared the honey-belle oranges from his tree in his yard. He had more than he could ever consume and would tell everyone to help themselves from his trees or from bins full of them.
During his final illness, all of his and Judy’s children visited in order to assist them. We were fortunate to have gotten to know each of them. They are all very nice people who made Bill and Judy very proud.
After Hurricane Ian, they managed to get back into their redone home in three months, way ahead of us.
Barb and I could not have found better neighbors and we will miss Bill very much.
Our deepest sympathy to the Loeffler family.
