William M. Minton's Obituary
William “Bill” Morris Minton, 84, passed away on February 16, 2014 at Hope Hospice of Fort Myers, Florida. He was born July 26, 1929 in Bloomington, Indiana to Roscoe and Violet Archer Minton. Beverly, his beloved wife of 63 years, was by his side.Bill attended Indiana University and Greenville College, where he met Beverly Barcroft, his future wife. They were married on August 12, 1950. He is also survived by his two daughters, Marilyn Binkley of Indianapolis, Indiana and Jana Brewster of Fort Myers, Florida, two grandchildren, Derek Binkley and Jenelle Madera, three great grandchildren, Anna, Eva and Samuel Binkley and his sister, Judith Boone and a number of nieces, nephews and cousins.Before retiring in 1991, Bill worked for State Farm Insurance for 32 years. He was superintendent of auto claims in the Indianapolis office. During their years in Indianapolis, Bill and Beverly were part of the founding members of the John Wesley Free Methodist Church. Bill served on several administrative committees there. He enjoyed building their cabin at the Wabash Park Free Methodist camp ground and spending many happy hours there with family and friends. He loved to travel and would take his family on many camping vacations around the country.After retiring, they moved to Lawrenceville, Illinois to be closer to Beverly’s mother and joined the local Free Methodist church, where they were married many years before. . He soon joined the newly formed Red Hill Dulcimer Society and made many wonderful friends there and enjoyed their yearly festivals nearby.Bill was a kind and gentle servant of the Lord. He was a talented and gifted man who loved wood working, water color painting and playing his guitar and banjo. They began to spend the winter months in Fort Myers where they bought a second home at Jamaica Bay. In 2013, they made their permanent home here among their many friends.A memorial service is being held on Sunday, March 9th at 2 pm at Pioneer Plaza, Jamaica Bay. Any memorials can be sent in Bill’s honor to Hope Hospice, 9470 Healthpark Circle, Ft. Myers, Florida 33908 – which gave him such kind and loving care in his final days.
