William Alfred Pohto Jr's Obituary
William Alfred Pohto, Jr., 45, resident of Florida since the 1980’s, passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, August 12, 2023, in the home he shared with his sister (Tracy Ann), niece (Ariana), and nephew (Aidan) in Cape Coral, FL. He was born September 23, 1977 in Ashtabula, OH to the late William and Joyce (Ann Trent) Pohto, Sr.
Life for William, Tracy, and the entire family has been hard after the deaths of their mother Joyce Ann (Mama/Nana), father William Sr. (Papa), and the matriarch and patriarch of both sides of his family, Popo, Momo, Smoke Momo, and Grandpa Trent. They were the glue that held his family together. Even throughout his struggles in life, William became the one true rock for his family, especially after all of our losses. He was a great husband, father, step-father, brother, uncle, great uncle, nephew, cousin, and friend. He was also like a father to Mark (nephew), taking him under his wing and teaching him everything he knew! The two were inseparable.
On July 24th, 2023, William was blessed with the news that he was soon-to-be a grandfather. His oldest daughter, Mariah, called him with the unexpected and breathtaking news to which he could find no words, but cried tears of joy knowing she has a little one on the way.
William wore many different hats in his life and he excelled at anything he tried, whether it was painting, roofing, carpentry, etc. He was a world class mechanic and a gormet chef, taught by his father and grandfather. At family gatherings, he could cook up the best BBQ! He would always answer a call for help or support from his family. His family was his world. His world was his family.
William is survived by his wife of 9 years, Toni Pohto of Cape Coral, FL; six children, Mariah Pohto (26), Brenton Pohto (18), Ivan Mendoza (18), Brianna Pohto (16), Eli Mendoza (14), and Ty Pohto (8) all of Cape Coral, FL; one sister, Tracy Ann Pohto of Cape Coral, FL; five nieces and nephews, Mark, Ariana, Aidan, Madalyn, and Zander; as well as many aunts, uncles, cousins, extended family members, and friends.
Memorial Services will be held privately for William.
