William Britt Pomeroy Jr's Obituary
William Britt Pomeroy, Jr. was a beloved husband to Martha S. Pomeroy for over 50 years, as well as a father, grandfather, GREAT grandfather and a true Florida legend. Britt passed away peacefully on June 8, 2025, at the age of 85. He was the fourth generation of his family to call Florida his home, a legacy he cherished deeply.
Britt, as he was known to friends and family, was a jack of all trades, a master of many. His keen eye for detail and perfectionist nature shone through in everything he undertook. He was an accomplished artist, whose talent extended beyond the canvas. His remarkably elegant penmanship was a testament to his dedication and precision. He possessed a remarkable skill in crafting custom fishing rods and reels, a testament to his ingenuity and passion. His woodworking creations were equally admired, showcasing his artistry and meticulous craftsmanship. Beyond his artistic talents, Britt was an aspiring guitarist, beginning to learn how to play at the age of 70! He filled his home and the hearts of his loved ones with music. He was also a successful businessman, owning and operating two commercial shrimp boats, a life that reflected his hard work and dedication in the 70's and 80's. One of his biggest achievements was retiring from being a registered land surveyor with Johnson for over 25 years.
Beyond his many accomplishments, Britt’s greatest joy was his family. He is survived by his children Cynthia P. Greenwood and William B. Pomeroy III, his grandchildren Casee M. Greenwood and Tyler B. Pomeroy, and his great grandchild Sky B. Pomeroy.
He leaves behind a legacy of love, laughter, and unwavering support. He cherished time spent with his family, creating memories that will be treasured forever.
Britt’s life was a testament to a life well-lived, filled with creativity, skill, and an unwavering love for his family and his island home. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him. His memory will live on in the hearts of his loved ones and the many beautiful things he created.
Family and friends are invited to a Graveside Service in his honor on Saturday, June 21, 2025, at Memorial Gardens Cemetery at 11:00 a.m. In Lou of flowers please donate to Hope Hospice of Fort Myers.
