William Henry Rice's Obituary
William Henry Rice, 82, a resident of Cape Coral, FL for over 30 years, formerly of Vermont passed away peacefully under the care of Hope Hospice on Wednesday, September 7, 2022. He was born February 28, 1940 in Mt. Kisco, NY to the late Claude and Margaret (nee Brady).
William, or as we knew him, “Bill” was an avid Miami Dolphins fan and sports enthusiast. He played basketball throughout high school and was named MVP after winning a championship game. After high school, Bill enlisted in the United States Army and served 4 years during peacetime. Following his time of service, his professional career consisted of various roles in sales and management, taking him all over the United States and to various parts of Europe. In his spare time, Bill was passionate about serving as a shelter manager for the American Red Cross. He played an integral role in supporting the displaced families in Southwest Florida during Hurricanes Charlie, Frances, Wilma and Irma over the past 20 years.
Bill is survived by his loving wife of 19 years, Maria Rice of Cape Coral, FL; two sons, Andrew Rice and his wife, Meighan of Vermont and Manul Gonzalez and his wife, Alyssa of Cape Coral, FL; six beloved grandchildren, Joey, Bella, Maddy, Cooper, Allison and Jackie; as well as several extended family members and friends.
A Memorial Service will be celebrated 10:00 AM, Saturday, September 24, 2022 at Fort Myers Memorial Gardens Funeral Home, 1589 Colonial Boulevard, Fort Myers, FL 33907.
