William Smith's Obituary
William Smith, 79 of Schenectady, New York and Marathon, Florida, passed away July 20, 2016 in Fort Myers, FL as a result of Alzheimer’s. William was born December 17, 1936 in Schenectady, New York, the son of, William Andrew and Jean (Palumbo) Smith. He was called Bill by those who loved him. After leaving the service in 1960, having held the rank of Tech Sergeant in the United States Airforce, Bill moved his wife Patty and their 3 oldest children to Marathon, Florida, in the Keys where the last 2 children were born. While living in Marathon, he opened his business, ‘Smith’s Radio and TV’ and sold his company in 1980. In 1981, Bill along with several local contractors formed the Florida Keys Contractor’s Assn. in which he held the position of Executive Director for the next 24 years. Mr. Smith is survived by his 5 children, Daniel Paul, Scott William, Sherry Ann, William Paul Jr., Robert J, former wife Marcia and 6 grandchildren.
