William J. Stasko's Obituary
William John Stasko of Murphy, NC and formerly of Fort Myers, FL, passed away 4:15 am Wednesday, January 28, 2015 at Murphy Medical Center, Murphy, NC. He was 76. William was born November 5, 1938 in North Lima, OH to the late John Michael Stasko and Anna N. Dudas Stasko. He worked in Ohio as a banker with First Federal Savings and Loan before moving to Southwest Florida and joining Sun Bank. In 1982, he and his wife Helyn Rae Stasko fulfilled their dreams of owning their own business. Together they founded the Grate, Fireplace and Stone Shoppe in Fort Myers. They owned the shop from its founding in 1982 until 2011. William was a proud veteran of the United States Air Force from December 1956 through September 1960 in the 4606th Air Defense Group. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his wife, Helyn Rae Stasko (2012). Left behind to cherish his memory are his children Susan M. Stasko of Fort Myers, FL, William J. Stasko II of Girard, OH and his grandchildren, Danielle M. Stasko (20) and Zachary J. Stasko (13). Visitation will be 12pm to 2pm Friday, February 13, 2015 at Fort Myers Memorial Gardens Funeral Home 1589 Colonial Boulevard, Fort Myers, FL 33907. Graveside service with military honors will follow at 2pm Friday in Fort Myers Memorial Gardens Cemetery. The family requests casual attire. In lieu of flowers, memorials in his honor are suggested to the American Lung Association 3645 Bonita Beach Road Southwest, Bonita Springs, FL 34134.
