William L Thomas' Obituary
William Linton Thomas, age 78, of Fort Myers, FL entered eternal rest on July 14, 2023
William “Bill” Linton Thomas was born on July 25, 1944, in Richmond VA. He spent most of his childhood in Winnetka, IL and identified as being from Chicago. He moved to Florida as an adult and lived on Sanibel Island for 25 years before moving to Fort Myers for his remaining 18 years.
Bill and his wife Isabelle were married on February 25, 1995. Bill served his country as a Specialist 4 in the Army during the Vietnam War. He was a 1969 graduate of the American Academy of Art in Chicago. Bill was best known as an accomplished photographer. He passionately sought the opportunity to take black-and-white photographs, had the honor to work with Ansel Adams, and most recently spent time with his best friend, Jim Anderson, photographing real estate. He would develop his own pictures and eventually compiled some of his best work to be published into a book. Bill had a passion for cars and enjoyed driving a variety of what he called “expensive toys.” He was a kid at heart, often playing jokes on his wife, initiating water gun wars, and enjoying games during time with his family. He enjoyed travelling, golfing, and going on cruises. He also enjoyed spending time at their family property at Gun Lake Michigan. Bill was known to be friendly and funny, often drawing those around him into enlightening conversations. He was beloved by those who knew him.
Bill is survived by his wife Isabelle Thomas, stepdaughter Grace Brooks and family, stepdaughter Lisa Ballentine and family, niece Kyle Kick and family, and nephew Carson Thomas and family. In lieu of flowers please make donations to Hope Hospice.
