William Joseph Wankmuller's Obituary
William Joseph Wankmuller, 82, of Punta Gorda, FL, formerly of Valley Stream, NY, passed away peacefully at home, surrounded by his loving family, on Wednesday, August 28, 2024. Born on March 26, 1942, in Cambria Heights, NY, to the late Joseph and Marion (Reilly) Wankmuller.
Bill was a proud United States Navy Veteran and retired as an agent from the U.S. Customs Service . Bill continued a career as a private investigator and was the spirited owner of Final Score Pub in Valley Stream, NY.
He and his wife, Cathi, enjoyed their time boating on Long Island with their friends at the Keystone Yacht Club before permanently heading down to Punta Gorda, FL, in 2019.
Known for his ability to carry a conversation with just about anyone, Bill was a people person with a great sense of humor. He was preceded in death by his sister, Maryellen Wankmuller, and his beloved German Shepherd, King.
Bill is survived by his wife, Cathi, son, William, daughters Diane Kitchener (Steve) and Karen Wankmuller (Bobby) and grandchildren Jill (Jason), Jack, Ryan, Brianna, Benny (Vanessa), Gavin (Julia), Aidan, Daniel, Eli and Nate.
Bill will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and all who had the pleasure of knowing him.
A Mass of Christian Burial for Bill will be Celebrated at 9:45 AM on Saturday, September 14, 2024 inside the Sanctuary at Holy Name of Mary Roman Catholic Church, 55 East Jamaica Avenue, Valley Stream, New York 11580, (516) 825-1450. At the conclusion of the funeral ceremonies at Church, family and friends will travel to St. John's Cemetery, 80-01 Metropolitan Avenue, Middle Village, New York 11379, (718) 894-4888, for committal services at Bill's place of final rest.
