Willie Horace Hurst's Obituary
Willie Horace Hurst, 78, of N. Fort Myers, passed away Sunday, August 30, 2009. He was born November 29, 1930 in Ashland, AL and moved to N. Fort Myers in 1992 from Norfolk, VA. He was a Navy Veteran of the Korean War, retiring in 1969 achieving the rank of Chief Petty Officer where he served in communications. He was a member of the Fleet Reserve and a lifetime member of Del Tura V.F.W. Following his retirement from the Navy, he became a barber.Mr. Hurst is survived by his wife of 57 years, Dorothy Hurst; his sons: Howard P. Hurst and wife, Diane of Chesapeake, VA and Frank E. Hurst and wife, Sherry of Port Richey, FL; grandchildren: Crystal and husband, Tim, Holly, Tyler, Phillip and Willie and siblings: James, Frank, Patricia and Betty. He was preceded in death by his parents: Dana and Fannie Hurst and his siblings: Corelle, Clinton, Lumis, Effie, Albert and Florence.Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 AM on Friday, September 4, 2009 at Fort Myers Memorial Gardens Funeral Home, 1589 Colonial Blvd., Fort Myers, FL 33907 with entombment to follow in Fort Myers Memorial Gardens Cemetery. Friends will be received from 10:00 AM until the time of the service on Friday.In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Hope Hospice of Lee County, 9470 HealthPark Circle, Fort Myers, FL 33908 or American Cancer Society or the Parkinson’s Foundation.
