Willie Curtis Sturgis' Obituary
On this said date, January 14, 2023, Willie Curtis Sturgis passed away at Crestview Assisted Living in West Palm Beach, Florida following some recent medical challenges. He was born in Thomson, Georgia on February 22, 1947 and was 76 years old when he died.
His father Willie James Sturgis and his mother Rebie (Landers) Sturgis were the parents to eight children: Roosevelt, Eddie Gean, Vera Lee, Willie Curtis, Robert Lee, Charlie, George Washington and Verna. Sadly, both his mother and father had preceded him in death.
Willie Curtis Sturgis was himself the father to three children, Verna, Willie Curtis Jr. and Shannah Yvett and was the grandfather to eleven grandchildren, a host of nieces, nephews and cousins, a large extended family and many friends. He also leaves behind his special and dear friend Mary Gean, whom he loved so much.
Willie Curtis had given his life to the Lord many years ago and was still holding on to Him. He loved the Lord and the Bible, especially John 14: 1-3 in the New Testament and Proverbs 3:5-6.
Curtis knew that one day the Lord would call him home. In his last days he would always repent to God for all his sins and believed that in doing so he was forgiven. He loved teaching the word of God, praying and singing to the Glory of God. He never forgot to call Jesus' name.
Willie Curtis was so loved by his family and he loved us.
We will miss his present and smiling face, but know God knows best and that's why Willie was called home to rest. As Willie would say to us, "Keep holding on to God's unchanging hand in Jesus' name."
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests a memorial contribution in honor of Willie be made to the American Heart Association. Donations can be mailed to the American Heart Association, PO Box 840692, Dallas, TX 75284-0692 or you can call 1-800-242-8721 for further information.
