Wister S. Baisch's Obituary
Wister S. Baisch, 97, passed away peacefully in his home in Fort Myers, Florida. He was formerly a resident of Perkasie, PA where he enjoyed his last 25 years of his life on his beautiful farm. Wister was born in Philadelphia, PA to William C. Baisch and Isabel Shortledge Baisch and was preceded in death by his brothers William and Robert.
When he graduated from Germantown High School, he enlisted in the Navy in 1944. He served on the USS New York until 1946. He was especially proud of his service to the Navy during WWII in Iwo Jima. After being honorably discharged he attended and graduated from Temple University School of Business Management in 1949. He was an avid supporter and fan of Temple University Athletic Department and attended many football and basketball games. His career in business was as Treasurer and CFO of PMA Reinsurance Company until retirement. He was an avid golfer belonging to Manufacturers’ G&CC and Fiddlesticks CC. He had is 10th hole in one at the age of 92.
Wister will be missed by his children Steven W. Baisch (Gayle) and Susan B. Klauder (Jeffrey) and Grandchildren Matthew Klauder (Hannah), James Klauder, Caitlyn Klauder, Adam Davis (Lacey) and Andrew Davis (Corey) along with 3 great grandchildren. Wister was preceded in death by his loving first wife of 42 years Rosemary (nee Gatens) and his second wife Harriet (nee Swoyer Horner) of 23 years.
A Memorial Service for Mr. Baisch will be celebrated at 11:00 AM on Friday, May 5, 2023 at St. Matthew's Episcopal Church, 919 Tennis Avenue, Maple Glen, PA 19002, (215) 646-4092. Mr. Baisch will thereafter be laid to rest alongside his dearly departed wife Rosemary at Whitemarsh Memorial Park, 1169 Limekiln Pike, Ambler, Pennsylvania 19002.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations in memory of Wister instead be directed to Hope Healthcare Services, 9470 Health Park Circle, Fort Myers, Florida 33908 (HopeHCS.org) or Mattie N. Dixon Community Cupboard, PO Box 367, Ambler, PA 19002 .
