Mario Joseph Corso 95, of Bokeelia, passed away Saturday, July 3, 2021. He was born September 13, 1925 to Rosario and Josephine (Coletti) Corso. He moved to here from Staten Island, New York in 2017. He was a World War II veteran, serving in the United States Army where he served in the Ardennes, Central Europe, Northern France and Rhineland campaigns. He received the European-African-Middle Eastern Campaign, Good Conduct and World War II Victory Medals. Following his time in the service, he returned to college and received his degree, becoming a pharmacist. While at St. John's University, he was named "Preceptor of the Year, in recognition of his important contribution to the educational experience of future pharmacists. He was the chief pharmacist at Ainsworth U.S. Army Health Clinic, Fort Hamilton, where St. John's University pharmacy students gain practical experience through clinical externships. Mr. Corso's name was added to a permanent plaque on display at St. John's University. He received the U.S. Government Sustained Superior Performance Award and the Incentive Award. Mr. Corso is survived by his sister, Teresa Clay of North Fort Myers and his nieces and nephews: Isabella Minnella of Cape Coral, Daniel Mele of Bokeelia, JoAnne Johnson of Martin, GA, Richie Pattay, Rudy Pattay, Russell Pattay and Ronnie Aronnie. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 AM Monday, July 12, 2021 at Our Lady of the Miraculous Medal Catholic Church, 12175 Stringfellow Rd, Bokeelia, FL 33922 with entombment to follow in Fort Myers Memorial Gardens Cemetery, where military honors will be conducted by the U.S. Army.
