Arthur Earl McFarland's Obituary
Arthur Earl McFarland of Punta Gorda passed peacefully in his home on December 21st, 2022. Arthur was born January 19th, 1944 to Earl and Mildred (McSwain)McFarland in Houston, Texas.
Throughout his life Arthur enjoyed riding his motorcycles, camping in Branson, Missouri with his family, And later in life, RVing with Mary. He loved being in his garage and was “Mr. Fix It” to all his family and friends. His love of tools was legendary. Arthur proudly served in the Missouri National Guard for 37years as a Sergeant First Class. His patriotism continued until he died. He loved the Lord and lived a Godly life while serving in various positions in his home churches. Arthur was a leader in Kingdom Church Builders and helped build churches in both the United States and two foreign countries. In his later years, he loved going on cruises with Mary and many other friends. He proudly worked at American National Property & Casualty Insurance company where he made life long friends before retiring after 36 years. He then became a Pyrotechnic expert while managing fireworks stores in Florida with Mary.
Arthur is preceded in passing by his parents, his stepdaughter Cathy Hatfield, and his brother James McFarland of Nebraska.
Arthur leaves his loving memory with his survivors. His beloved wife Mary McFarland, his son Brian McFarland of Florida, his daughter Lori McFarland Collar of Florida, his stepson Stephen Hatfield (Jessica)of Missouri, his grandchildren Austin Collar, Colton Hatfield, Emily Hatfield, Levi Weddington, and Jade Childress. His sister Melba McFarland Throne (Larry) and numerous nephews and nieces.
Arthur's family have entrusted Fort Myers Memorial Gardens Funeral Home with caring for his final arrangements. Arthur’s Memorial Service will be held on January 19th, 2023 at 2:00 pm at Peace River Baptist Church in Punta Gorda, Florida. A memorial will also be held in his home town of Boaz, Missouri at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Wounded Warrior Project.
