Bertie M. Scott's Obituary
Bertie Miller Scott, 82, passed away on October 24, 2015. Born June 2, 1933, to the late Leland & Louise Miller of Fort Myers, Florida. She was a Fort Myers native who worked side by side with her husband, Wes, in their businesses over the years as well as an employee of Lee Memorial Health System. Bertie was a long time member of Riverside Baptist Church where she and Wes directed a Sunday School Class called Pairs & Spares. Bertie also mentored many of the young women there. She loved to sing and was an active member in the choir and in small ensembles. She was a current member of Crossroads Baptist Church.She was a ladies lady who enjoyed her Garden Club & Stock Club and loved going to luncheons with her friends. She was very stylish and loved shopping with her girls. Bertie & Wes had the gift of hospitality and loved entertaining friends and family. A true red head, she definitely spoke her mind no matter who you were.She is survived by her three daughters: Sandy, Melanie (Dennis), SuEllen (Dale), 10 grandchildren and 18 great grandchildren. Bertie was preceded in death by her loving husband of 63 years, Wes Scott, and siblings Ruby Coleman, Frances Johnston, Harold Miller & Charles Miller and great granddaughter, Baylee Jean.Visitation will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday, October 29, at Crossroads Baptist Church with funeral services at 11 a.m. A private family entombment will be held at Fort Myers Memorial Gardens.In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to honor the life of Bertie Scott be given to the Lottie Moon Offering of the International Mission Board in care of Crossroads Baptist Church, 10721 Palm Beach Boulevard, Fort Myers, Florida, 33905 or to Joanne ’s House at Hope Hospice, 27200 Imperial Parkway, Bonita Springs, Florida 34135Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Fort Myers Memorial Gardens Funeral Home, 1589 Colonial Boulevard, Fort Myers, FL 33907.
