Burnie was my buddy Mark’s dad. My earliest memories of him and the Humphrey family started with little league baseball probably 40ish years ago in Indiana. Burnie and family took me tubing for the first time around 12 years old and that later lead into going to the lakes, being coached by Burnie in little league, a few trips to Florida, and later working for Burnie at Patriot Paints. The Humphrey family were a big part of my youth and early adult life. They always treated me like family and I always appreciated that. Burnie always treated me fair and was a big influence growing up. He always had a way of just being one of the guys even though he was one of my friend's parents. There are so many Stories I could tell and have told that involved that guy. Burnie always had a special place with me and was easily one of my favorite people. I got to spend some time with him a couple years ago and I even got to give him a hug and tell him how much I appreciated him before he got on the plane back to Florida and I am grateful for that. The world lost a great man and I lost an old friend. RIP Burnie Bass!
