Carl F La Fleur's Obituary
Mr. Carl Frank La Fleur, son of Frank and Martha La Fleur (both deceased) passed away peacefully on January 12, 2021 at the age of 87 in Fort Myers, FL.
Carl is survived by the love of his life, his wife of 66 years, Mary Ann of Fort Myers, FL; two daughters, Cathy La Fleur-Ghea of Lehigh Acres, FL and Cindy La Fleur-Richardson of Fort Myers, FL; five grandchildren; two great grandchildren with two more on the way; two adopted children, Richard and Barbara Potts of Highland, NC; one sister, Martha La Fleur of Oak Hill, IL; as well as nieces, Tammy Kirk and Melissa Clark and their children of North Carolina.
Carl was born in Patterson, NJ on April 19, 1933 and was raised in the Bergen County area. He proudly serviced in the US Air Force from 1953 to 1957 as an Air Police Officer. He was stationed in West Hampton Beach, Long Island, NY and Reykjabik, Iceland during the Korean War. Shortly after his service he worked for the Chicago Great Western & Wabash Railroad companies in the Midwest and moved his family to Stanberry, MO where they lived for 10 years. He then moved his family back to New Jersey where he worked for 25 years for CPC International, Inc in Englewood Cliffs, NJ as a Rail Fleet Logistics Coordinator and his family Lived in Fair Lawn, NJ. Upon retirement in 1992 Carl moved to Toms River, NJ where the winters were to cold and he and Mary Ann moved to Fort Myers, FL permanently in 2000. He loved the warm lazy days.
During his work career and in retirement Carl and Mary Ann traveled the world by air and ship. He was well known to play the Gaming Tables on all the cruise ships with his adopted son, Richard. He was an avid bowler here in Fort Myers with an average in the 180’s. He also loved the game of Billards with his favorite cue stick. Carl’s garden at home was full of beautiful roses and flowers. He also loved to eat out in the Fort Myers restaurants and spending his time with his family. He will be dearly missed.
A visitation will be held from 11:00 AM – 12:00 NOON, Friday, January 15, 2021 at Fort Myers Memorial Gardens Funeral Home, 1589 Colonial Blvd., Fort Myers, FL. A Funeral Service will follow at 12 NOON in the funeral home where military honors will be presented by the United States Air Force. Entombment will follow in Memorial Gardens Cemetery.
