I will never forget the words of compassion and encouragement that my Aunt Carol shared with me. Back when I was a teenager, still in the “everything is a crisis” mode that accompanies young and developing minds, Carol told me that I will one day find my place in the world, find love, and become the man she always knew I could be. I am sure she didn’t think much of it at the time, but I never forgot the support she gave me in the throws of my angsty teenage years. I have, and will continue to, carry that with me and pass on her love to others.
As Christmas approaches, family traditions come to mind. The year after Nan passed in 1998, Carol and I played Nannie's Angels at Christmas and made special gifts for each of her grandkids our nieces and nephews. Carol shared her gifts of generosity and support having compassion for those suffering, even puppies and cats!. A strong woman who carried the burdens of many and will always be in our hearts as a matriarch, a friend, a sister. I love you best.
