Carol Gene Goldwasser, 66, of Fort Myers, FL departed this life on Thursday, March 13, 2014 in Fort Myers. She retired from the Lee County Board of County Commissioners as their Toll Facilities Director in 2006. Carol was born July 29, 1947 in the Bronx, NY to Max Goldwasser and Sarah Cotter Goldwasser. In addition to her parents, Carol leaves behind, to cherish her memory, Arlene Goldberg, her spouse and very best friend for 47 years; her sister, Arline(Jeffrey) Zambrana; her dearest friends, Barbara Kuzniar and Shelly Goldstein; aunts, Dorothy Aszkenas and Beatrice Schwartz & friend Mary Kelly.A Celebration of her Life will be held 2:00 p.m., Saturday, March 22, 2014 at the Unitarian Universalist Church of Fort Myers 13411 Shire Lane, Fort Myers, FL 33912. A reception will,immediately, follow in Hobart Hall on the grounds of UUCFM. All are invited.The family will be receiving guests for a shiva call at their home located at 14810 Lake Olive Drive (Parker Lakes in the Grove subdivision.) in Fort Myers. They will sit on Sunday, Monday & Tuesday , March 23, 24 & 25; From 1:00PM – 3:00PM and 6:00PM – 8:00PM.In lieu of flowers donations may be made, in Carol’s name, to the Scleroderma Foundation located at 300 Rosewood Drive, Suite 105,Danvers, MA 01923 www.scleroderma.org or Equality Florida www.eqfl.org.My Darling Carol, My heart broke as I watched you fade away but I knew you had to go.
