Carole H. Kerns' Obituary
Carole Henderson Kerns, 76 of Fort Myers, FL was surrounded by family when she passed away Sunday, June 28, 2026 at Gulf Coast Medical Center.
Carole was born March 9, 1950 in Cleveland, Ohio, the daughter of William and Betty Henderson. She graduated from Ohio State University and married Gregory Kerns on December 19, 1970, in Bellefontaine, OH. Following the blizzard of 1978, they permanently traded in the cold for the sunshine of Ft. Myers, FL.
Carole was a speech pathologist for elementary aged children throughout her career, following which she held leadership positions, volunteered and was an active member of numerous organizations including Continental Women’s Club, the Florida Philanthropic Educational Organization, Lamb of God Church and Berne Davis Botanical Garden.
While she enjoyed theater, classical music and authoring articles for various local publications, those that knew her well can attest to her greatest passion being her family. Her outpouring of empathy, love and endless giving blessed the lives of many. The world was indisputably a better place with her in it. Although incredibly grief stricken without her, we find peace in knowing she is once again reunited with her husband, Greg, who was her high school sweetheart and love of her life.
Surviving are her children Richard Allan Kerns and his wife Kay, grandsons Collin and Clayden of Cape Coral, FL; Alison Elizabeth Ross and her husband Doug of Orlando, FL; Amy Jo Kerns, grandchildren Kylie, James Dylan and Tessa of Estero, FL; brother Scott Henderson and his wife Deborah of Gahanna, OH.
A memorial service will be held on July 8, 2026 at 11:00am at Lamb of God Church, 19691 Cypress View Drive, Fort Myers, FL 33967. The Fort Myers Memorial Gardens Funeral Home has been entrusted with Carole’s care.
In lieu of flowers, donations in Carole's name may be made to Lamb of God Church at https://lambofgodchurch.net or P.O. Box 867, Estero, FL 33929.
