Catherine B. Shackleford's Obituary
Catherine B. Shackleford of North Fort Myers, Florida passed away peacefully while under Hospice care on Sunday, February 10, 2019 following some recent health challenges. She was 90 years old.Catherine was born in Limona, Florida on October 30, 1928, the beautiful daughter of Ruby (Crossley) and Taylor Shackleford. She worked for the Federal Bureau of Investigation for several years early in her career with postings in both Miami and Washington, D.C. before she transferred to the White House to work in public relations. She served as a staff member for the correspondence section under seven different American Presidents, beginning with Dwight D. Eisenhower until her retirement under Ronald Reagan. She truly enjoyed her life of public service and was proud to work for our nation during some very interesting times.Catherine leaves to cherish her memory her nephews James R. Hinman (Jill) and William Hinman and great nephew Joel Hinman (Stacy). She also leaves behind a number of extended family members and countless others she met along life’s travels who were proud to call her a friend. Sadly, she was predeceased by her parents; sister Ann Hinman and nephew Charles Hinman. Catherine will be warmly remembered and fondly missed by all who knew and loved her.A Memorial Service for Catherine will be celebrated at 11:00 AM on Friday, February 22, 2019 inside the Chapel at Covenant Presbyterian Church, 2439 McGregor Boulevard, Fort Myers, Florida 33901, (239) 334-8937.
