Charles James Casey's Obituary
Charles “Charlie” James Casey 67, of Fort Myers, Florida, passed away peacefully Friday, August 18, 2017, surrounded by his loving family.Charlie was born March 4, 1950 in Woodside, New York, to the late Charles Henry Casey and Florence Elizabeth (Gildea) Casey. He worked for 45 years as a steamfitter and instructor with the Steamfitters Local 638 in New York City.Charlie was a lifelong sports fan of the New York Mets, Jets, Rangers, and Knicks. He always rooted for the underdog and always lent a hand to anyone in need. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus, a lifelong blood donor, and a frequent volunteer in the communities in which he lived, including Lindenhurst, New York, Matamoras, Pennsylvania, and Fort Myers, Florida. He was also a volunteer in the 9/11 recovery and clean up.Charlie was deeply spiritual, passionate about music, a Civil War history buff, and an avid reader. He was a member of the USBC bowling club and bicycled nearly daily with the “Peckerheads” bike group.Charlie leaves behind his loving wife of 46 years, Marguerite, and their four children, Angela Casey, Charlie (Lela) Casey, Tony (Michelle) Casey, Patrick (Amber) Casey, and stepson, Joseph (Laraine) Conte. He is also survived by his brother, Kevin (Veronica) Casey, and two sisters, Mary (Rod) DeChiara and Ann (Larry) Giuliano. He was the loving grandfather to Charlie, Dalen, Evianne, Isabella, Liam, Sean, Mckenna, Declan, Ryan, Brianna, Nicholas, and Erica. He was a beloved uncle to RJ and Boomer. He will be dearly missed by all who knew him.Visitation will be 10am until 11am with funeral services beginning at 11am Wednesday, August 23, 2017, in the chapel of Fort Myers Memorial Gardens Funeral Home, 1589 Colonial Boulevard, Fort Myers, Florida 33907.
