Curtiss M. Hovey's Obituary
Curtiss M. Hovey died at the age of 92 on April 12, 2023. Curt was born on October 23, 1930, on the Hovey Family Farm outside New Effington, South Dakota. He was the eldest of 4 children to Ingvald O. and Agnes (Wrolstad) Hovey. He thrived as a proud Norwegian, farm boy, high school gymnast, class valedictorian, Army veteran, longtime Amoco employee, husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather. Curt loved to fish, hunt, dance, travel, work with his hands, and tell jokes. He loved his family, friends, and life with fervor.
He was preceded in death by his parents; two siblings, Arlys (Huebner) and Roger Hovey; his first wife and mother of his 5 children, Grace (Thies); two sons, Dr. Michael Hovey and Brian Hovey; and a granddaughter, Brianne Hovey.
He is survived by his wife of 27 years, Margie M. Hovey; his children, Craig Hovey, Todd Hovey, and Andrea Winkle; his step-children, David Pruitt, and Denise Wall; his sibling, Douglas Hovey; 8 grandchildren; and 7 great grandchildren.
No viewing is planned. A memorial service and interment at Sunset Memorial Cemetery in Fargo, North Dakota will be arranged at a later date.
Curt requested that, in lieu of flowers, memorial donations be made to the American Cancer Society.
