I remember the day David accepted Jesus as his savior at Delaney St. Baptist. We have been out of touch for years as we moved away. But as I have read the notes and letters I am so blessed to hear what a great Christian person he was. Our love to all the family. George and Bettye Cooley

When I was in 9th Grade, David was my Sunday School teacher at Delaney. I remember David taking us Sunday School kids on an overnight canoe trip up the Econ River. I stillremember that to this day and I am 54 now. WHAT an impression he made on my life. A lot of respect was garnered toward David. What a mentor he was to us all!! Ron Moore
We will always remember David from being in our class for many years at First Baptist Church, Orlando, Fl. He was always willing to help in anyway, even substituting as a teacher when my husband Dale couldn't teach that Sunday. We pray for the rest of the family during this time, and thank God for letting us meet and know and love David for a little while until we can join him in heaven someday. We are saddened to learn of Dave's passing and express our condolences to his family. Our association with Dave traces to BSA Troop 23 in Sarasota and we have enduring memories of many camping trips with him. David was an amazing person. Always positive and trying to figure out the best way to solve a problem. Didnâ??t give up if he believed in a cause. He loved the environment and protecting it. Endless hours and true dedication to his clients resulted in positive solutions, permitted projects and infrastructure throughout Florida that will preserve our environment for decades. He loved God, his Mom, his wife and soulmate, his children and his sisters and always shared that love freely and told such great stories as he smiled. Sharing his love with scouts too numerous to count, David encouraged me to keep my son tracking all the way to Eagle. He knew how to break away to enjoy the adventures that put him at the top of majestic peaks of the west or deep in canyons. I can remember how his eyes danced when he would share the stories upon his return. I admired his strength, his dedication, his simplicity and passion for life. I was working on Pathfinder and I believe he was working on Eagle Scout. We tied knots folded flags and built signs. Those trademark black rim glasses and always thinking smile. Great times and great childhood developments…Never forget…
David is my first cousin and I will always remember playing in grandmother Langston's attic on Green Street in Starkville, MS when our families would occasionally meet there for different holidays. Because he and Janet were closer to my age we enjoyed each others' company. Along with the attic to explore, I remember an old shed out back that he , Janet and I sort of built a wooden sled in (in case it snowed) and there was a school with a playground across the street where we'd spin ourselves dizzy sick on the merry-go-round and see who could swing the highest. David was such a kind boy and was very smart. As we grew older life happened and we saw each other very seldom but when we relocated to Florida we met at the beach with our families and got to see each other's children. Fast forward to my mother's funeral…as my sister explained David drove up to Nashville during some bad winter weather to represent his side of the family and it meant so very much to us. He shared memories of his Aunt Merdis in a sympathy card that will always be special to us. When news of David's diagnosis of cancer reached me, I remember feeling crestfallen and sad and followed his emails in the months that followed to hear of triumphs and setbacks. News of a wedding was such happy news and getting to attend that sweet marriage ceremony of Corry and David was a privilege. Corry, Janet and Patty–Woody and I cannot attend the celebration of David's life but will keep all of you in our thoughts and prayers as you walk through this valley. David would not want us to be sad because he was a believer in Jesus Christ and knew where he was going. When I read of his passing with his beautiful bride Corry by his side, I imagined him hiking into the glorious presence of Christ and the unimaginable reunion going on with his dad and all the family members who passed before him. I knew David in high school when we lived on Stilwell in Orlando. I still remember that freckled guy with the glasses and his whit. He came up with the most amazing things. He was so smart. He was in the scouts back then. What an amazing young man!David will be missed by the Harris family, Bill, Jo, Jack and Diane. My heart is heavy for Janet, Cory, Mom and his entire family. May God give you comfort in this time of loss.
