It’s been many years since my father’s passing. I do not have many memories of him as I was very young and went straight into the USMC after high school, seeing him only a couple times in-between deployments.
What you may know about him, what I knew from a very young age, was that he did not measure his successes by how much he himself achieved, but by how many others succeeded with him.
The man created an influential and prosperous blood-line, with deep roots of holding each other accountable, both morally and professionally. He was truly worthy of emulation by his peers, which to him, was every human being.
Despite his adventurous, successful, and fulfilling life, he remained humble and without judgement. Always the first to help those truly in need, with an emotional intelligence that could befriend even the most complex of adversaries.
To my father, a truly selfless man, your spirit lives on in the countless lives you’ve inspired.
