Dean W. Larson's Obituary
Dr. Dean W. Larson died September 3, 2015 of complications following surgery. He was born in Kennebec, South Dakota on July 15, 1956, the youngest child of John and Flora Larson. He attended high school in Chamberlain, SD where he was class valedictorian. After graduation from The University of South Dakota in Vermillion, he attended the Sanford Medical School. Dr. Larson did his residency in ophthalmology at St. Luke’s Hospital in Cleveland and a fellowship in oculoplastics. Upon completing his fellowship he moved to Fort Myers in 1990 where he had a successful practice in eyelid plastic surgery. He is survived by his parents, John and Flora Larson of Surprise, AZ, his three children August Larson of Los Angeles, Deanna Larson of Tampa, and Caroline Larson of Fort Lauderdale, his brother David (Mary Alice) of Chamberlain, SD, his sister, Linda Drennan (Peter) of Phoenix, and his fianc??e, Laura Alsyte of St. Petersburg. Dr. Larson enjoyed many hobbies and pastimes. He enjoyed keeping tropical fish and built clocks, including their works, from scratch. He built and flew model airplanes, helicopters, and drones. Always eager for an adventure, he raced catamarans and traveled extensively. His child-like eagerness and infectious laugh will be greatly missed by all who knew him. A funeral service will be held 1:00 PM Monday, September 7, 2015, Fort Myers Memorial Gardens Funeral Home, 1589 Colonial Blvd., Fort Myers, FL 33907. Visitation will be from 11:00 AM – 1:00 PM Monday, September 7, 2015 at Fort Myers Memorial Gardens. Commital services will be held at Fort Myers Memorial Gardens Cemetery.
