Donald Wayne Fortin's Obituary
Donald Wayne Fortin, Sr., 74, of North Ft. Myers, FL passed away Friday, January 18, 2019 in Cape Coral, FL after a month long hospital stay. He was born April 4, 1944 in Woodstock, IL to Lawrence “Tex” Fortin, Sr. and Dorothy Bartrum, now deceased.After moving to Florida in 1996 from Illinois Don went on to open Fortino’s Pizza in South Fort Myers which was in business from 1999-2009. Don was still working in the restaurant industry at the time of his death for Papa John’s Pizza in North Fort Myers. To his family and friends Don was known to be honest, and kind. He could talk to anyone about any subject. He had an open ear to listen about your problems, and most of the time he would figure out a way to help you. He was also extremely knowledgeable on so many subjects that he amazed people. He was preceded in death by his stepson, Martin Redman and brother, Larry Fortin.He is survived by his loving wife of 12 years, Pam Bisler of North Ft. Myers, FL; five children, Donald Fortin, Darren Fortin, Danny Fortin, Dione Jenkins, Dana Hoffman, and two stepchildren Tiffany Bisler and Andrew Redman; one sister, Gail Sorrenson; 16 grandchildren; as well as many extended family members and friends.At Don’s request no formal services are planned at this time.Arrangements for final care have been entrusted to Fort Myers Memorial Gardens Funeral Home, 1589 Colonial Boulevard, Fort Myers, Florida 33907, (239) 936-0555.
