Doris Eileen Sanders' Obituary
Doris Eileen Jacobs Sanders of Cape Coral, Florida passed away peacefully with her loving family by her side on Tuesday, June 4, 2024 at the Hampton Manor Assisted Living Community. She was 99 years old.
She was born in Centerville, Michigan on August 22, 1924 and was the beautiful daughter to the late Ernest Jacobs and Edna Cain Jacobs.
Doris moved to Fort Myers in 1960 from Elkhart, Indiana . She was a devoted Mother, Grandmother and Great-Grandmother. She worked in Cape Coral and Fort Myers as a waitress many endless hours to support her three children. She retired from Smitty’s Restaurant in Fort Myers in 1989. Her passion was yard work of any kind, but she had a special affinity for raking. Doris also enjoyed many summers in Chambersburg ,Pennsylvania with her daughter Judy and her husband Phil where she got to enjoy the campfires at their cabin in Sinnamahoning, PA. She created many memorable moments by teaching all the grandchildren to play UNO.
Doris is survived by her three children and their spouses: Larry Walworth and wife Sandra; Ronald Walworth and wife Cathy; Judy Dann and husband Phil. She also leaves behind grandchildren, Tami, Billy, Randy, Dawn, Clinton and Matthew and 10 Great-Grandchildren: Hanna, Carolyn, Reed, Spencer, Devin, Megan, Abi, Kaitlyn, Wyatt and Aidyn. Doris is also survived by sister-in-law, Peggy Jacobs, many nieces and nephews and her dear friend and travel companion of many years Millie Kessler who is now 103 years of age living in Dallas, Texas. Sadly, she was pre-deceased by her parents and brothers Donald, Paul and Phillip Jacobs and sisters Harriett Jones and Ernestine Arthur. Doris was the last surviving member of her immediate family.
A Funeral Service for Doris will be celebrated by Pastor Bob Lockwood at 1:00 PM on Friday, June 7, 2024 inside the Chapel at Fort Myers Memorial Gardens Funeral Home, 1589 Colonial Boulevard, Fort Myers, Florida 33907, (239) 936-0555. Guests will be received for Visitation for an hour preceding this ceremony beginning at 12:00 Noon, also inside the funeral home chapel. At the conclusion of these services, friends and family will recess to adjacent Memorial Gardens Cemetery where Doris will be laid to rest inside the Prayer Garden.
The family wants to extend their gratitude to the entire staff of Hampton Manor of Cape Coral and Vitas Healthcare for the wonderful care Doris received in the final chapter of her life.
