Dorothy Kollofski's Obituary
Dorothy Kollofski died September 10, 2015 at Brookdale Assisted Living, Cypress Lake, Fort Myers, Florida. She left this life under the presence and loving care of Hope Hospice of Fort Myers. Dorothy was born October 20, 1922 in McFarland, Wisconsin to Joseph and Mary McFarland. She was the granddaughter of the founder of the town that bears her maiden name, William Hugh McFarland. She was proud of her heritage. During World War II, she married Larry Kollofski, a loving relationship that endured for many years. Her career as an administrative assistant in St. Paul, Minnesota was rewarding before retiring to Fort Myers in 1976. Dorothy was a lady of class. She was hospitable, courteous and kind. She did not know the meaning of the word, grudge. She surrounded herself by all things beautiful, her doll collection, beautiful fashions and most importantly, the people whom she loved. While never a biological mother, her nieces, nephews and especially her goddaughter, Candy, along with Kate and Jerry remained close to her to the end of her life. They dearly loved and cared for her and will treasure many years of fond memories. Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents, brothers; Harvey, Roy and Milo; and sisters, Lillian Lueth, Avenell Dietrich and Jeanette Bump; and her special niece, Connie McFarland who spent many vacations with Dorothy in Florida. The family wishes to acknowledge the staff of Brookdale Assisted Living for their loving care and the staff of Hope Hospice of Fort Myers for helping her transition into a heavenly realm where all her loved ones have gone before. We are most appreciative of their kindness and devotion. Memorials may be made to Hope Hospice of Fort Myers. A private memorial service is being planned.
